Roofing & Siding Warranties in St. Louis — What's Actually Covered
GAF · Owens Corning · CertainTeed · James Hardie Certified Installer Warranties
Manufacturer-Certified Coverage
A roof or siding installation is one of the largest investments a homeowner makes. The warranty behind that installation is the financial backstop if something goes wrong. But not all warranties are equal — and the coverage tier you qualify for depends almost entirely on who installs the product.
Revolve Construction holds active certifications from GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, and James Hardie. Those certifications unlock the highest warranty tiers those manufacturers offer — tiers that are simply not available through uncertified contractors. This page explains what each tier covers, what's excluded, and how our workmanship warranty sits on top of it all.
Why Warranties Matter — Manufacturer vs. Workmanship
Every roofing project actually carries two distinct warranty obligations. The first is the manufacturer's material warranty — the shingle or panel maker standing behind its product against manufacturing defects, premature granule loss, cracking, or algae discoloration. The second is the workmanship warranty — the contractor standing behind the quality of the installation itself.
These two warranties work differently. A manufacturer will deny a material warranty claim if they determine the failure was caused by improper installation — and vice versa. Having one certified contractor who is accountable for both eliminates the finger-pointing. Because Revolve holds manufacturer certifications, we are contractually obligated to install per each manufacturer's specifications, meaning both warranties are backed by a single accountable party: us.
GAF Roofing Warranties
Revolve is a GAF Certified Contractor
GAF structures its enhanced warranties in ascending tiers. The baseline limited warranty covers manufacturing defects on the shingles themselves. The three enhanced tiers below require a certified installer and a qualifying product system:
System Plus
Typically a 50-year non-prorated limited warranty on qualifying shingles when paired with a minimum number of qualifying GAF accessories (starter, ventilation, deck protection). Available through certified installers including Revolve.
Silver Pledge
Adds a workmanship warranty (typically 10 years) on top of the System Plus material coverage. Requires installation by a GAF Certified contractor. Revolve qualifies to issue Silver Pledge warranties.
Golden Pledge
GAF's highest available tier. Typically provides a 25-year workmanship warranty and 50-year non-prorated material coverage. Requires a full qualifying accessory system and is only available through GAF Certified contractors. Ask about Golden Pledge eligibility on your project.
All warranty terms depend on the specific products selected, accessory system installed, and registration. Contact Revolve to confirm which GAF tier applies to your project scope.
Owens Corning Warranties
Revolve is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor
Owens Corning's warranty program rewards full roofing system use. Installing a complete OC system — shingles, underlayment, ventilation, and starter strip — is the qualifying step for enhanced coverage:
Standard Limited Warranty
Owens Corning's baseline coverage on qualifying shingle products, typically covering manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the original homeowner. Prorating may apply to some product lines after an initial period.
System Protection Limited Warranty
When a full qualifying Owens Corning system is installed by a Preferred Contractor like Revolve, the System Protection warranty typically adds non-prorated coverage extensions and may include wind resistance and algae warranty periods. The specific duration and terms depend on the shingle line selected.
CertainTeed Warranties
Revolve is a CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster
CertainTeed's SureStart Protection and the Integrity Roof System program are the cornerstones of their warranty offering. As a Select ShingleMaster, Revolve meets CertainTeed's installation training and certification requirements.
Integrity Roof System
When a full qualifying CertainTeed system (shingles, underlayment, starter, ridge cap, and ventilation products) is installed together, the Integrity Roof System designation unlocks extended coverage durations and non-prorated terms for an initial period.
SureStart Protection
SureStart is CertainTeed's non-prorated coverage period built into their lifetime shingle warranties. During the SureStart window (typically 10 years on qualifying products), CertainTeed covers 100% of replacement cost with no depreciation applied.
4-Star Contractor Warranty
Select ShingleMaster contractors can offer CertainTeed's 4-Star Warranty, which adds a workmanship component — typically covering labor and material replacement for up to 4 years after installation — on top of the standard manufacturer material warranty.
James Hardie Siding Warranties
Revolve is a James Hardie Preferred Remodeler
James Hardie fiber cement products are backed by some of the strongest siding warranties in the industry, particularly when installed by a Preferred contractor who has completed James Hardie's installation training program.
30-Year Non-Prorated Product Warranty — HardiePlank & HardiePanel
James Hardie offers a 30-year non-prorated limited warranty on HardiePlank lap siding and HardiePanel vertical siding. Non-prorated means the full replacement value is covered for the entire 30-year term — there is no sliding-scale depreciation applied as years pass. This is among the longest non-prorated siding warranties available.
15-Year ColorPlus Finish Warranty
Products finished with James Hardie's factory-applied ColorPlus Technology carry a 15-year limited warranty covering peeling, chipping, cracking, and color fade. Factory-applied finish outperforms field-painted products in UV resistance and adhesion, and the warranty reflects that durability.
James Hardie warranty terms are registered per project address. Revolve handles registration at project closeout. Warranty coverage applies to the original purchaser and may be transferable — see your warranty certificate for transfer terms.
Workmanship Warranty from Revolve
Every installation Revolve completes is backed by a written workmanship warranty documented in your project contract. Our workmanship coverage addresses failures caused by installation error — things like improper flashing, inadequate fastening, or ventilation setups that don't meet code or manufacturer requirements.
Because we are certified by GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, and James Hardie, our installation standards are set not just by us but by each manufacturer's technical requirements. That dual accountability — to you and to the manufacturer — is a structural check on workmanship quality that uncertified crews simply do not have.
Workmanship warranty terms are spelled out in your contract. If you have questions about what is covered on a specific project, call us directly at (314) 400-8006.
How to Make a Warranty Claim
The process depends on whether the issue is a workmanship concern or a material defect. Here is the step-by-step:
- 1
Call or email Revolve first
Start with us regardless of whether you think the issue is workmanship or material. We will inspect and help you determine which warranty applies — and handle the manufacturer contact if needed.
- 2
Locate your warranty documentation
Find your project contract (which contains workmanship warranty terms) and your manufacturer warranty certificate. If you cannot locate these, we can assist — we retain project records.
- 3
Document the problem
Photograph the affected area clearly. Note when you first observed the issue and any weather events that preceded it. This documentation matters — for both workmanship and material claims.
- 4
Do not have repairs made by another contractor
Having an uncertified third party perform repairs on the affected area before a warranty inspection is completed can void both the manufacturer warranty and our workmanship coverage. Call us first.
- 5
Warranty inspection and resolution
Revolve will inspect and document the issue. If it is a workmanship defect, we repair it under our warranty at no charge. If it is a manufacturer defect, we file the warranty claim on your behalf with the manufacturer.
Warranty FAQs
Is a manufacturer roofing warranty transferable to a new homeowner?
Many manufacturer warranties — including GAF's System Plus, Silver Pledge, and Golden Pledge — are transferable to a subsequent homeowner within a set window (typically within 30 days of sale, with a transfer fee). The coverage period may be shortened after transfer. Check your specific warranty certificate or ask Revolve for guidance at the time of your home sale.
What voids a roof warranty?
Common warranty-voiding events include: installation of additional layers over an existing roof without manufacturer approval, using non-approved ventilation products that alter the system, improper attic ventilation that causes heat or moisture buildup, and having work performed on the roof by a non-certified contractor after installation. Always call us before allowing any other trades to penetrate or alter your roof.
Does my manufacturer warranty cover hail damage?
Standard manufacturer warranties cover manufacturing defects — not storm damage. Hail and wind damage is a homeowner's insurance claim, not a warranty claim. That said, some premium GAF and Owens Corning shingle lines carry an algae-resistance or wind warranty extension. We document storm damage to insurance-grade standards and can help you distinguish between a defect claim and an insurance claim.
How long does Revolve's workmanship warranty last?
Revolve Construction backs its labor with a workmanship warranty on every installation. Specific terms are documented in your project contract. Because we are manufacturer-certified by GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, and James Hardie, workmanship coverage requirements are part of maintaining those certifications — giving you an extra layer of accountability beyond the written warranty.
Do I need to register my warranty after installation?
Yes — most manufacturer warranties require registration within a specific window after installation (commonly 30–45 days). As a certified installer, Revolve handles warranty registration on your behalf as part of the project closeout process. You will receive a warranty certificate for your records. If you had a roof installed and never received one, contact us and we can assist with a registration inquiry.
